Ladies and Gentlemen,

Distinguished Guests, Runners, and Supporters,

Good morning!

It is my great pleasure and honour to stand before you today, as you launch your journey to the majestic and historic Great Zimbabwe — a proud symbol of our nation's heritage, resilience, and greatness.

Today, as we gather for the Great Zimbabwe Marathon, we celebrate not only sport and endurance, but also the beauty and spirit of Zimbabwe. This marathon brings together athletes from across the country and around the world, united by a common passion — to run, to connect, and to explore the wonders of our land.

As the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality, I am delighted to witness how events like this one showcase our country's potential as a premier destination for sports tourism. The Great Zimbabwe Marathon is more than a race — it is a journey through history, culture, and natural beauty. Today's Great Zimbabwe Marathon is more than just a race. It's a celebration of our spirit, unity, and resilience. Every step you take today runs through the heart of our identity as a people — a people of pride, hospitality, and endurance.

This event reminds us that tourism is not only about places, but also about experiences — the smiles of our people, the warmth of our hospitality, and the stories that inspire visitors to return again and again. Through initiatives like this, we strengthen our communities, boost local economies, and share the rich narrative of Zimbabwe with the world.

To our runners: today, you embody the values of perseverance, unity, and excellence. Whether you are running to win, to challenge yourself, or simply to be part of something greater — you are all champions. Remember, every stride you take celebrates Zimbabwe's heritage and potential.

To the organisers, sponsors, volunteers, and local communities — thank you for your dedication and support. You have made this event possible, and you continue to position Zimbabwe as a hub for sport, adventure, and cultural tourism.

Runners, organisers, sponsors, and supporters — congratulations!

What a truly incredible day it has been here at the Great Zimbabwe Marathon. We have witnessed strength, determination, and the true spirit of Zimbabwe shining bright on this historic ground.

To all our runners — whether you crossed the finish line first or last — you are all winners. You have conquered not just the distance, but also yourselves. Your energy, endurance, and passion have inspired us all.

This marathon is not only a sporting event — it is a celebration of who we are as a people: strong, united, and full of pride. It also reminds us of the power of sport and tourism to bring people together, to promote healthy lifestyles, and to showcase the unmatched beauty and hospitality of our great nation.

Allow me to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the organising team, our sponsors, and the Copota School of the Blind for entertaining the runners along the way and for their commitment and hard work. Your efforts have made today's event a resounding success.
